The UK Information Commissioners Office (ICO) has seen a massive surge in the number of reported data breaches in their latest released figures. The Health sector fared worse with an almost doubling of reported breaches from Q2 to Q4 2013. There were in total 420 separate incidents reported to the ICO in Q4 2013 with reasons varying from human error to non-secure IT asset disposal.
This number is potentially set to rise again with the potential inclusion in the upcoming revised EU Data Protection Framework of a mandatory declaration for all organisations.
